Oh how nice these little characters from Yeye Weller are! Always the wink, the smirk and the thumbs up, these provide the balm that our hearts so badly need. Be careful, nice doesn't mean stupid. If the images of the German provoke goodwill, the message they carry can prove to be a little more acidic. Generally written with typographic virtuosity and a keen eye towards the masters of the 1960s and 1970s, the messages are an integral part of Yeye Weller's work. Because his work as a designer is coupled with an undeniable science of graphic design, both in the visual appeal and in the art of guiding the eye. No wonder, then, that the city of London entrusts its walls to it as in 2022 for a cartoonish invitation to stop vomiting in the street. A slap on the wrist, but with a smile. Wink, wink.
